Housecats was created at the De Anza College Animation Workshop (Cupertino, CA), under the supervision of instructor Todd Flinchbaugh. The soundtrack, original music and editing were by by Gerry Burnett. Housecats won the 1986 Student Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement, and several other student animation awards, including a 1986 CINE Eagle, a 1986 FOCUS Award, and an Asifa-East 1986 Best Student film award. It was also leased or sold to several cable TV networks, including HBO and Nickelodeon.
